 A few months ago, it was brought to my attention that Pixar was brewing up yet another sequel, this one to the classic movie Inside Out. Now, Inside Out is a unique case. It's an insanely sentimental movie with a core backbone made solely up of emotion. Inside Out is one of Pixar's most innocent, creative movies. It's the kind of movie that makes you want to cry every time you watch it. The kind of movie that makes you reflect on yourself. The kind of movie that you would never want a soulless cashgrab sequel to take away from you. And that's exactly what I thought Inside Out 2 was going to be! The marketing of the movie focused only on the new emotions. Now, to me, these new emotions looked like things Disney had simply told Pixar they had to include. I remember not liking the designs of the new emotions (especially Embarrasment) and thinking they looked like they weren't designed for anything but marketability. The entire time I was watching Inanimate Insanity 2 episode 15: Truth or Flare, something was bothering me. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, until I realized: Truth or Flare is essentially the season 3 finale, You Can't Do This Forever, but done a million times better. Inanimate Insanity paused its second season to make Inanimate Insanity Invitational. This was a season where the writers made what they wanted to, essentially.  That's not a bad idea at all! Another show, Battle for Dream Island, did the same thing and they ended up making my favorite season of the show: Battle for BFB. The problem is that the villains and contestants do not line up with the story Invitational wished to tell. Let's compare the two, shall we? The Invitational crew were usually if not always happy with each other. There were squabbles between characters like Balloon and Nickel or Test Tube and Cabby, but by the end, everybody had resolved their differences and grew to understand each o...

  A lot of times, disabled characters in childrens’ shows and movies seem infantilized. We’ve all seen at least one kids’ show episode in our lives about the disabled character, usually someone in a wheelchair. They are always held up to the spotlight to tell the audience about their disability so much that disability seems to become all that they are. And once that happens…they’re sort of more a lesson for abled people. And I, an epileptic, never thought of them as anything more. The writers are always very well-intentioned, of course, but no matter the audience, it always seems the same. Not a person, but a lesson for the abled on how to treat people like them. And don’t get me wrong!! There is nothing wrong with that! But the disabled person will always stand out and not be treated as someone with that condition really would be. They will never be treated as just another character who just happens to not be able to do some of the things the rest of the cast can. This is why Tear...

  Throughout the course of “Inanimate Insanity”, the cohost of the series, Toilet, is constantly told by the host, MePhone, that he needs him to get him “some wires” Toilet goes to great lengths to achieve these wires every single time he is told to. We can see scuffs and scratches all over him almost every time we see him giving the wires to MePhone. Toilet truly believes that every single time he’s been sent off to get a wire, it’s been for something absolutely necessary. He truly believes they are truly loved and valued by MePhone and even brags about this to others. In truth, however, Toilet is only sent out to find these wires so he doesn’t have to be around as much. And these wires are thrown away as soon as they are given to MePhone. These wires, in a way, represent Toilet perfectly. When Toilet is first introduced, he’s always the butt of the joke no matter what, simply because he’s a toilet. He’s treated as lesser because…well would you want a high-strung toilet around you...

  In its third season, Battle for BFDI, the series Battle for Dream Island debuted many new characters. The creators of Battle for Dream Island, Cary and Michael Huang, took designs from their fans and dumped over twenty new characters in to compete alongside the twenty-two characters they already had competing on the show. However, the last two seasons had already fleshed out the old characters, and now the crew had to scramble to give personalities to the new ones. They’d introduced far too many, however, and scrambled to give screentime to the twenty-three new characters to try and flesh them out all at once.  One of these new characters was Pillow. Due to not getting much focus, Pillow didn’t seem to have much of a personality during Battle for BFDI. She was also not brought back until the most recent season of Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two.   Dev is most often seen wearing sunglasses at school, especially in the beginning of Fairly OddParents: A New Wish. He’s seen here as simply the flashy, rich bully. He always acts cooler than everybody else in this persona, like he’s above it all. He’s always followed by two drones as well, who at this point seem like they’re Dev’s servants at the time and not babysitters as they truly are. Dev seems the most sure of who he is when he’s in this glasses persona. He’s very sure of his future and brags a lot, especially about his future. Dev is heir to his family’s fortune and he makes sure to tell everybody he knows when he grows up he’ll take over the family business. I have a theory about this persona, but we’ll get to that later. The next stage is when you can see Dev is taken off guard by something, interestingly usually a kind act. You see, while I may love him, Dev is a little turd, especially in the persona he wears almost every day. He deals out hatred and when the people in...
